If you’re reading this, chances are you’ve got a piano in your life—or maybe you’re thinking about bringing one into your home. Either way, welcome. I’m Keith, and I’ve been tuning, repairing, and taking care of pianos for over 30 years now across Long Island and the New York Metro Area. It’s more than just a job for me—it’s a craft, and one I genuinely love.
You’d be amazed how many people I meet who say, “We’ve had this piano forever, and we’ve never had it tuned. It still works!” And sure, it may still play—but that doesn’t mean it’s sounding its best. Over time, every piano goes out of tune. The weather, humidity, and just plain gravity affect all those tightly stretched strings (each one under 150 to 200 pounds of tension). A piano that once sang might now sound a little… sleepy.
But here’s the thing: pianos are tough. I’ve brought back 100-year-old uprights and dusty baby grands that hadn’t been touched in decades. A careful tuning—done the right way—can make a piano sound bright, warm, and alive again. Sometimes I’ll finish a session and the owner just sits down and plays for the first time in years. That’s the best part of this work.
A good tuning isn’t just about pitch—it helps your piano stay healthier longer. It holds its value, plays more evenly, and gives you a sound you can actually enjoy (and your neighbors too, hopefully). I always tune by ear with digital tools for backup, and I never rush the job. Every piano gets the time and respect it deserves.
So whether you’re a professional musician, a piano parent, or just someone who loves the look and sound of a classic instrument in the living room—I’m here to help. Give your piano a little attention, and it’ll reward you with music for a lifetime.
Thanks for stopping by,
—Keith
